Learn to crochet a cosy cowl - two week course (The Croust Hut, Troon)
Learn to crochet a cosy cowl - two week course - Sat 2nd and Sat 9th November 2019
Tickets sold out
Learn how to crochet an incredibly cosy cowl scarf and make the perfect accessory for chilly autumn and winter days. This is an ideal project for beginners as the pattern has been designed with simplicity in mind.
Crocheting with chunky yarn is a wonderful way to slow down and be more mindful while making something beautiful for yourself or to give as a gift.
This course is suitable for all - whether you're an absolute beginner, an experienced beginner, or a confident crocheter.
This short course runs over two weeks in two sessions - Saturday 2nd November and Saturday 9th November, from 10:00 - 12:00.
At The Croust Hut, King Edward Mine Museum, Troon, Camborne, Cornwall, TR14 9DP
What to expect:
In the first 2 hour session you'll learn the basic techniques and stitches to get started with the project, and you'll practice your new skills while making a simple cowl (neck warmer) using a lovely chunky 100% wool yarn, with a choice of gorgeous colours. You'll learn how to hold the yarn, make chains, make half-treble stitches, and interpret a simple pattern.
During the week between sessions you'll have the opportunity to carry on with your cowl at home if you wish, and you'll be given access to some online video tutorials to help you along with the pattern.
In the second 2 hour session you'll continue the cowl project with assistance, following the pattern, and you'll learn the techniques needed to finish it.
Everyone learns at their own pace, and although it is perfectly feasible that you will complete the cowl within 4 hours, you should not expect a complete project if you are still learning the basic skills. You can be assured that you will have time to make good progress with the project and will be fully equipped with all the skills and experience needed to finish it (with video tutorials and continued help and advice available to you if you get stuck).
The cost of the course includes all materials, tea/coffee and cake. At the end of the course, you’ll go away with your cowl, crochet hook, printed pattern, access to video tutorials, and your new skills that will carry you forward in your crochet adventures.
